Hampta Pass Trek: A Journey between two Worlds
Nestled in the heart of Himachal Pradesh, the Hampta Pass trek is a rare Himalayan adventure where two contrasting worlds meet — the lush green valleys of Kullu on one side and the arid, dramatic desert of Spiti on the other. This five-day journey is perfect for beginners and adventure seekers looking to explore high-altitude terrain with a blend of natural beauty, mythology, and spiritual energy.
The trail starts from Jobra and takes you through dense alpine forests, vibrant wildflower meadows, and icy glacier-fed streams. As you climb toward the pass, situated at approximately 4,270 meters (14,000 feet), the landscape transforms drastically. Crossing the pass feels like stepping from earth into the sky, unveiling barren, moon-like views of the Spiti Valley. The trek ends with a steep descent to Chhatru and an optional drive to the magical Chandratal Lake — a turquoise jewel in the cold desert of Lahaul.
