A 10-day cultural expedition across Burundi and Rwanda

Day 1 : Bujumbura international airport Pick up and transfer to your hotel Upon your arrival at Bujumbura International airport, you will meet our driver guide to welcome you with humility and a smile. With listening and caring, talking to you courteously, he will guide you to Safari gate hotel for check-in, and depending on your arrival time, we may proceed with Bujumbura City tour. Accommodation: Safari gate hotel Day 2: Transfer to Rumonge, fishing experience After your breakfast, we will drive toward Rumonge passing along Lake Taanganyika until Rumonge. It is a 3hour car drive from Bujumbura to Rumonge but the landscape is stunning. Reaching in Rumonge, we will go checkin at Niyituronsa hotel before we go to experience the fishing along Lake Tanganyika. Overnight: Niyituronsa Hotel Day 3: Karera waterfall experience After your breakfast, you will drive about 2 hours passing through great sceneries and villages toward Rutana for a visit to Karera waterfalls and then start experiencing the Karera waterfalls which are divided into 4 waterfalls. The waters from the waterfalls have healing powers that serve as medication. That is why you will find local and international visitors coming in, stepping in the water to seek for the divine healing from the water. Breathtaking sceneries that attract the attention of everyone surround the site Overnight: Perroquet de Mw’Ishanga Hotel Day 4: Gishora Drum Sanctuary. After breakfast, you will drive about 2 hours to reach Gitega. You will be welcomed by royal drummers. You will be astonished by their rapidity in jumping in the air and how talented they are. You will just learn and imitate how to beat drums and dance. Later after, you will go straight to your hotel. Overnight: Tropitel Hotel Day 5: Transfer back to Bujumbura, Pygmy visit and fly to Rwanda After your breakfast, we will drive 2 hour to reach the Pygmy community. This will be golden opportunity to learn about their unique culture and lifestyle. The Pygmy (Batwa) used to be discriminated from other community and live in the forest. While learning about their culture, you will join their dance before we continue our way to Bujumbura. Later after, we will go airport airport around 2 to fly to Rwanda. Overnight: Nobleza hotel Day6: Kigali City tour with genocide memorial After breakfast, you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial and get to learn the history of Rwanda. You will just get information on how the government of Rwanda has stopped genocide and how Rwanda is being constructed after such a dark period. After this, you will have a short city tour to witness the reality of the development of Rwanda after its dark period. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Nobleza hotel Day 7: Golden Monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park and Diane fossey museum This day is dedicated to the softer side of the Virunga Mountains, focusing on the endemic Golden Monkeys and the legacy of the woman who made this conservation possible. Morning: Golden Monkey Trekking Unlike the silent, awe-filled atmosphere of gorilla trekking, the Golden Monkey trek is high-energy and full of movement. These “Little Sun-Gods” are endemic to the Albertine Rift and live in the bamboo forests at the base of the volcanoes. You’ll watch them leap between stalks, play-fight, and expertly peel bamboo shoots. Afternoon: Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund After lunch, head to this world-class museum and research center. It’s an immersive experience where you can walk through a 3D “Gorilla Theater,” see a recreation of Dian Fossey’s original Karisoke research cabin, and learn about the cutting-edge science protecting the park today. Overnight: Classic hotel Day 8: Canoeing in Lake kivu and Nyamyumba hot spring After a week of trekking, your legs will thank you as you move toward the scenic shores of Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. Morning: Canoeing on Lake Kivu Swap the hiking boots for a paddle. Starting from Gisenyi (Rubavu), you’ll glide across the calm, emerald waters in a modern canoe. The perspective from the water is unmatched—you’ll see local fishermen in their traditional three-hulled trimaran boats and the majestic silhouettes of the volcanoes fading into the distance. Afternoon: Nyamyumba Hot Springs Experience Follow the lakeshore to the natural hot springs. These thermal waters are heated by the volcanic activity of the nearby Virunga chain. While the “massage” from local experts using the mineral-rich silt is a highlight, simply soaking your feet in the warm, healing waters is the ultimate way to recover from the week’s excursions. Overnight: Kivu Paradis Malahide Day 9: Visit the calling Islands in Kivu Lake After breakfast, you will get in the local boat, time to explore splendid Rwanda. You will visit pass through islands and islets but mainly you will visit three of them: Napoleon Island, the blue monkey Island, and the Peace Island. You will get a chance to see Monkeys that live on the island.   Then you will ride back to Amahoro Island (Peace Island) and stop at the open peninsula for a local beer.    Later, you will start driving along the Lake Kivu belt. A 3-day Burundi expedition

Day 1: Bujumbura international airport pick up and transfer to your hotel Upon arrival at Bujumbura airport, you will meet our professional guide who will brief about your tour before you get transferred to your hotel. Depending on the time you arrive, we will proceed with Bujumbura city tour after you checkin. Overnight: Club du Lake Tanganyika hotel Day 2: Chimps trek in Kibira NP, and Teza Tea plantation and transfer to Gitega After breakfast, we will have about 2-hour car drive to reach Kibira National Park headquarter. Kibira NP offers a fantastic experience for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts and trekkers. You will then start your trek through lush rainforest, valley and hills, enjoying the breathtaking views of the diverse landscape. Chimps love to move quickly from one place to another. Your guide will help you to find them but still there is no guarantee with nature. The trek may take 2-5hours. After this, we will enjoy the Teza tea plantation, lying on the edge of Kibira National park, its landscape is panoramic with a greenery tea, you will participate in a group of local community to learn how to harvest tea and the tea making process as you enjoy the panoramic view of the area. Later, we will continue forward to Gitega and stay at Tropitel hotel Overnight: Tropitel Hotel Day3: Gishora Drum sanctuary and transfer back to Bujumbura After you breakfast, we will go to experience the Burundi Drums, which is the best in the world and registered as UNESCO heritage. They will beat the drums while carrying them on their head and jumping in the air. You will try to imitate them, dance and beat the drums. Later after, you will buy some souvenirs before we drive 3 hours back to Bujumbura for an afternoon flight. A 9-day Gorilla tour across Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Latitude 0° (Oct 6) • Arrival: Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet your hospitable driver-guide. • Briefing: Your guide will provide a briefing about your upcoming activities before transferring you to your hotel. • Evening: Relax at your hotel and prepare for the journey ahead. • Overnight: Latitude 0° Hotel Day 2: Transfer to Kibale & Bigodi Nature Walk (6hours) • Morning: After breakfast, begin the scenic transfer toward Kibale National Park. • Afternoon: Visit the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a wildlife corridor of Kibale Forest. This nature walk takes approximately 2 hours depending on fitness levels. After the nature walk, you will proceed with Bigodi culturel village and get to learn the coffee processing experience and local beverage brewing. • Wildlife Sighting: This Home of the Great Blue Turaco is a bird watcher’s paradise with over 200 species. You may also spot up to 8 primate species, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, and L’hoest Monkey. • Overnight: Crater Safari Lodge Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP • Morning: After your breakfast, with packed lunch, head to the forest offices for a briefing on Chimpanzee tracking. Rangers will guide you through the forest; tracking usually takes between 2 to 5 hours depending on how they are moving. • Behavior: You will learn that chimps are highly vocal and prefer staying in treetops compared to gorillas. • Afternoon: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 2–3 hours). • Overnight: Enganzi Game Lodge Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise • Morning:After your breakfast, embark on a morning game drive through the park's diverse habitats. Watch for an array of wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and lions and Leopards. • The Equator: Stop at the Equator line for a photo opportunity and to experience the crossing between hemispheres. • Afternoon: Launch a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a highlight for many visitors. This offers a unique way to see high concentrations of hippos, as well as crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and various bird species up close. • Overnight: Enganzi Game Lodge Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (7hours) • Morning: Enjoy breakfast before transferring toward Bwindi National Park. • Afternoon: The drive offers stunning views of the "Switzerland of Africa" with its terraced hills and winding roads. Arrive at the edge of the forest to prepare your gear for the gorilla trek. • Overnight: Gorilla Safari Lodge Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking • Briefing: After your breakfast with packed lunch, head to the park headquarters by 7:30 am with your trekking gear for a safety and protocol briefing, which starts at 8:00 am. You will be then allocated a specific gorilla family to track. • The Encounter: Once found, you will spend exactly one hour with the gorillas, taking pictures, observing their behavior in their natural habitat. • Optional Batwa community visit: If time permits and you feel energetic, you may engage in a nature walk to the Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest life. • Overnight: Gorilla Safari Lodge Day 7: Crossing to Rwanda & Dian Fossey Museum • Morning: After your breakfast, transfer across the border into Rwanda. • Afternoon: Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. This museum features interactive displays, videos, and artifacts that tell the story of Dian Fossey’s life and her legendary work to protect gorillas. • Overnight: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge Day 8: Kigali City Tour & Cultural Exploration • Morning: Transfer to Kigali (approx. 2.5 hours).
