FOR CRUISE PASSENGERS COMING TO OLBIA - SARDINIA
SarTur
An introduction to the province of Gallura, and also to Sardinia. A journey back through time, 5000 years of history in less than a day: starting with the panoramic road to Golfo Aranci, then a visit to the church of Madonna del Monte; afterwards we head to Porto Rotondo, the chic and arty resort town favoured by Italy’s jet set. We then drive up to explore the quaint hamlet of SAN PANTALEO nestled among fantastical granitic peaks. Moving further on, you come across the giant cap-shaped boulder at ARZACHENA and the prehistorical site of Nuraghe LA PRISCIONA complete with an associated settlement. Back in more recent times, there’s the glamorous COSTA SMERALDA whose main hub is PORTO CERVO – here we check out La Piazza square, the old harbour area known locally as Il Porto Vecchio plus the Church of Stella Maris. Close by are nearby attractions such as BAJADA SARDINIA along with Fort Capeliini - originally constructed during the eighteenth century but nowadays home to what was once a trendy beachside nightclub/bar named PHI BEACH. As your trip comes to an end heading back towards the marina why not take some time out to do some last minute souvenir hunting or perhaps pay homage inside the imposing BASILICA OF SAN SIMPLICIO which dates all the way back to approximately AD 1059?
