The city of Ohrid has quite a long history to offer. Situated beside one of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe, this place known as "The Pearl of the Balkans" will amaze you with its stunning breath-taking views. Over the centuries,
Ohrid has experienced the tastes of Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, Byzantine culture, the Ottoman Empire, but above all, the impact of the Slavonic migrations that are felt even now.
Our journey begins right in the centre of town, where you'll find the Fortress of Tsar Samuil dating back to the eleventh century. Here you can enjoy an unbeatable panoramic view over Lake Ohrid - one of the biggest and cleanest naturally formed tectonic lakes in Europe.
We then head on towards what must surely be the oldest site within the Old Town; the antique amphitheatre built during the second century BC. Our walk continues along some charmingly tight alleys lined by shops selling hand crafted goods such as traditional wooden items or handcrafted papers.
