Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking
Kadek mertayasa · Bali
Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking is one of Bali’s most iconic experiences. It’s an active volcano trek that rewards you with a "sea of clouds" view as the sun rises over Mount Agung and the neighboring islands.
Since it is currently February 2026 (rainy season in Bali), here is the most up-to-date guide for your trip:
🕒 The Typical Timeline
Be prepared for a very early start!
* 01:30 AM – 02:30 AM: Hotel pickup (depending on your location—Ubud is closer than Seminyak).
* 03:30 AM: Arrive at the base, meet your mandatory local guide, and start the hike.
* 05:30 AM – 06:00 AM: Reach the summit (1,717 meters).
* 06:15 AM: Enjoy breakfast (often eggs and bananas cooked by volcanic steam) while watching the sunrise.
* 07:30 AM: Begin the descent.
* 09:00 AM: Optional stop at the Batur Natural Hot Springs to soak your tired muscles.
🥾 Trek Details & Difficulty
* Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours to go up; 1 to 1.5 hours to come down.
* Difficulty: Moderate. The first half is relatively flat, but the second half is a steep incline over volcanic sand and loose rocks.
* Terrain: Can be slippery, especially in the dark. Flashlights (headlamps) are provided by most guides.
💰 2026 Estimated Costs
Prices vary based on whether you book a private or group tour:
* Group Tour: IDR 300,000 – 500,000 per person.
* Private Tour: IDR 600,000 – 1,300,000 (often includes better transport and flexible pace).
* Jeep Option: If you don't want to hike, you can take a 4WD Jeep to the sunrise point for about double the price.
