Zanzibar Spice and Herbs Tour

Our tour begins with a drive through an abundance of greenery in the countryside where we can see, smell and taste a variety of spices and delicious tropical seasonal fruits like jackfruit, pineapple, bananas, young coconut water, durian, tamarillo (love apple), lychee, guanabana (soursop) etc. The spices including clove, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, turmeric, nutmeg – all boast flavors that are just as exotic…and so forth. The complete tour includes far more than just spices; there’ll be opportunities to view seaweed processing plants, henna bushes, ylang-ylang flowers, Lipstick Tree, cacao pods, and coffee beans too. Highlights include visiting Kidichi Persian Baths—built back in 1850 by Sayyid Said Bin Sultan specifically for his Persian bride princess Scheherazade who was actually the grand daughter of Iran's King! There's also walking tours around Zanzibari Spice Farms and Plantations plus optional cooking classes at one particular plantation which guests may book upon arrival if they wish. You get up close views of everyday islander lives while strolling along these paths, witness firsthand how various crops grow here, enjoy sampling some tasty regional produce both sweet and spicy, learn fascinating facts about this region's rich past and cultural heritage, not forgetting perfect timing when shopping for souvenirs or gifts home.
