08:00 AM: Pick up at your hotel in Yangon and drive to Bago, 80 km northeast of Yangon. Upon arrival in Bago, tour highlights include visiting the Kya Khat Wai Monastery to see one of the three largest monasteries in the country and experience Burmese monastic life as well as observing the midday meals being served to thousands of monks who have their final meal for the day at 10:30am in complete silence. Afterwards we will pay our respects at the majestic Shwe Maw Daw pagoda - an ancient shrine that dates back more than two thousand years. We then proceed to Mount Popa – also known as "Hinthar Gone" where there are thirty seven Nat Shrines carved out of rock face. Our guide here can tell you about this fascinating aspect of Myanma culture. Next stop is the site of the former palace built by king Bayinnaung during his reign in the fifteenth century A.D.. In the late morning, continue towards Shwe Thar Lay Aung Temple housing The Reclining Buddha statue measuring fifty five metres in length whose origins date all the way back to 994AD. Then move onto Mya Thalar Wun image hall featuring another colossal reclined buddha figure which has been newly renovated. Also worth seeing is the famous ordination hall called Kala Yar Ni Si Ma containing ten large stone carvings depicting various scenes related to Buddhism's teachings. Finally, don't miss paying homage at Maha Ceti Paya before heading off to witness some traditional cheroot cigar production if time allows it. Last but not least, marvel at Kyauk Pun monastery showcasing its impressive collection of statues representing Lord Buddha sitting upright under the vast sky. Late afternoon return journey to Yangon followed by check-in at your chosen accommodation marking the conclusion of today's adventure.
