1. The Paro Tshechu Experience
Paro Tshechu is one of Bhutan’s most spiritually powerful festivals. It is held annually during the spring months at the historic Paro Dzong. The festival spans five days of sacred rituals, mask dances, folk dances, and communal celebrations that attract thousands of visitors (both local and international). Tour packages centered around this festival are designed to provide full immersion in Bhutan’s culture, religion, and community life, in addition to exploring other interesting sites.

b. Paro Tshechu Festival Access
i. Sacred Mask Dances (cham)
These dances are performed by monks and lay dancers in elaborate costumes. These performances not only entertain but also carry deep spiritual intent for the purpose of purification and blessing.
ii. Thongdrel Unveiling
The most sacred moment of the festival is the unfurling of the giant thongdrel (religious tapestry) of Guru Rimpoche. It is unfurled at dawn on the final day. Viewing this is believed to cleanse sins and bring profound blessings.
