Basic Cruising/Bareboat Cruising
This five-day, four-night liveaboard course combines US Sailing Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising into one comprehensive training program designed for sailors with prior keelboat experience. The course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to confidently skipper a cruising sailboat on multi-day, near-coastal passages. Taught aboard our fully equipped Beneteau Oceanis or Excess Catamaran. This course provides hands-on instruction in sail handling, advanced docking and anchoring techniques, navigation and route planning, crew management, troubleshooting onboard systems, and emergency procedures. Students live aboard for four nights, gaining real-world experience in provisioning, passage-making, and overnight anchoring. Successful graduates earn both the US Sailing Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising certifications, meeting the standard for bareboat chartering with most operators in the U.S. and internationally. This course is ideal for sailors ready to transition from day sailing to skippering their own coastal cruising adventures.
