I am thrilled to embark on a journey with you into the realm of SUNPRINTS (also known as cyanotypes). This is one of the simplest printing methods that you can easily do at home; there is no need for expensive equipment or a dedicated photographic darkroom. Once favoured by engineers well into the 20th century, cyanotypes are now gaining popularity amongst photographers and artists keen to explore new creative avenues using this enjoyable alternative printing method. In this three-hour workshop, we will discover how to produce SUNPRINTS. Using the energy of the desert sun, we will create a sky-blue impression. Participants will be introduced to the historical background behind this technique, while learning how to prepare papers and develop impressions themselves. Please submit some photographs before your session so that I may generate digital negative images. Impressions will then be made directly from these negatives onto different kinds of paper along with natural elements such as leaves, flowers, stones etc., plus other interesting items like small toys or jewellery – don't hesitate to bring any intriguing object! Previous knowledge isn't necessary. By the end of our time together, each participant should take away between five and ten finished cyanotype pieces measuring approximately nine inches x twelve inches printed on diverse materials.
