We'll walk alongside the seafront of Naples, passing by the enchanting heart of the old town, Castel dell’Ovo, and its surrounding district "Borgo Marinari", then head eastward towards Via Caracciolo. Next comes a stroll through elegant Piazza del Plebiscito and the Royal Palace before arriving in the busy shopping street that runs between Via Toledo, Piazza Carità and Piazza del Gesù. This marks the beginning of Ancient Greece in Naples, where lie the three Decumani -the principal thoroughfares running parallel to each other within the walls of the Greek settlement known as Neapolis-, intersecting numerous vicoli ("little alleys"), which are characteristically small lanes found throughout this historic part of the city centre. As we continue our journey down via il Decumano Inferiore (“Lower Road”) toward the middle one called Maggiore, we pass through Viale dei Tribunali and Antichiglia Street. For those who wish to extend their route further, there's an option to tackle the challenging ascent; starting off from Piazza del Plebiscito after climbing just slightly uphill, visitors can reach the summit of Monte Echia, home to what was once considered prime land belonging to early Grecian inhabitants. The breathtaking views over both Castel dell’Ovo and the Gulf of Naples make this excursion truly unforgettable.
