We are Valérie and Louis Forgues, organic winemakers on a small 10 hectare estate. Our 8 grape varieties, half of which are rare and some from pre-phylloxera vines planted before 1890, make the Domaine de la Méchinière a unique setting in the Cher Valley. Coming from a living and respected land, our wines are the reflections of our landscapes. Our pruning is virtuous, our harvests are manual, our fermentations are gentle and unhurried to express the essence of our grapes. Our organic wines are available in 4 colours: white, orange, rosé and red, in AOC Touraine and Vins de France. - Tastings: 5 wines – Self-contained bicycle and camper van welcome (water, electricity, toilets) upon booking; languages spoken include French, English and German. And if desired, enjoy a lovely walk alongside the unspoilt riverbanks of the Cher River. Organic wine Tasting of rare grape varieties

Our 8 grape varieties, half of which are rare and some from pre-phylloxera vines planted before 1890, make La Méchinière, a smal familly estate, a unique showcase in the Cher Valley. Our pruning is virtuous, our harvests are manual, and our vinification is natural. Grown out of a living and respected soil, our wines are ORGANIC, come in 4 colors: white, orange, rosé and red, as AOC Touraine and Vins de France, and express the essence of their grapes, without artifice. We grow on our 10 hectares : - Orbois and Chenin on a prephylloxeric co-plantation, planted before 1890. - Sauvignon Blanc and Fié Gris (Sauvignon rose) - Gamay, - Cabernet franc, - Côt (Malbec), with a prephylloxeric vine planted in provignage method, and - Pineau d'Aunis, today so rare in our valley. Tasting our wines means discovering the original flavors of the old grape varieties of our Cher Valley. Sit back, smell, taste, and immerse yourself in the history of our vines and our vintages, in a friendly moment with the winemaker. And for those who wish, take the time for a beautiful stroll along the banks of the wild Cher.
