6 Days Weismann's Peak

This peak is the most challenging one in Rwenzori Ranges but rewarding; Weismann’s Peak stands at 4,620 metres. This trek will take six days and pass through some of the most breathtaking landscapes within the Rwenzori mountains. It is advisable to undertake this hike between mid-December until the end of February and again from June until the end of July. Participants should have good physical fitness levels. **Day 1:** From Nyakalengija (1,648m) to Nyabitaba Hut (2,651m). Start your journey with preparations either in the late afternoon before departure or very early in the morning when visiting the main office of Trek Rwenzori Tours. Here, check all necessary equipment and organize porters including chefs and guides beforehand. Your trekking route begins near the Park Gate located at 1,646m above sea level towards Nyabitaba covering approximately seven kilometers which usually requires four to five hours while climbing up about 1,200 vertical meters. Initially, the path leads past houses and cultivated land passing through thickets of bamboo and tall Elephant Grass. Continue uphill across Bluffs overlooking River Mahoma, eventually reaching steep slopes leading upwards toward Nyabitaba Camp. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife like White Colobus Monkeys, Black Colobus Monkeys, Three Horned Chameleons, and possibly even sightings of the rare Rwenzori Turaco bird species. Spend the night camping at Nyabitaba. **Day 2:** From Nyabitaba Camp (2,651m) to Guyeoman Camp (3,505m). At Nyabitaba Camp, follow the trails heading eastwards along junctions connecting anti-clockwise routes clockwise around the area. Taking the clockwise option allows hikers to traverse through Bamboo Forest down to Kichuchu Bridge. Once crossed, continue walking alongside heather/ropeinia zones right up to Kichuchu Rock formation after which there is another sharp incline awaiting trekkers enroute to reach their destination campsite – Guyeoman Camp.

Lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a unique guided wildlife experience that allows visitors to accompany trained Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and researchers in locating and observing lions—and occasionally leopards—in their natural habitat. Unlike a regular game drive, this activity focuses on tracking specific lion prides, often with the help of radio-collared lions, providing deep insight into their behavior, movements, hunting strategies, and social structure. The experience is conducted mainly in the open Kasenyi Plains, one of the park’s prime predator areas. Lion tracking combines adventure with conservation, as your participation directly supports ongoing research and protection of Queen Elizabeth National Park’s lion and leopard populations. **Trip Schedule** Your safari begins early in the morning with a 6:00 AM pick-up by your professional guide from Trek Rwenzori Tours, from your hotel in Fort Portal, Kasese, or within the Queen Elizabeth area. You will then be driven to the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices for registration, briefing, and final preparations. Lion tracking starts at 7:00–7:30 AM and continues until mid-day. Along the way, you may encounter other wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, and a wide variety of bird species. In the afternoon, the experience continues with a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, famous for its dense population of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. B
