Slănic Prahova Salt Mine is the largest and most impressive salt mine in Europe. Located in Prahova County, Romania, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Bucharest, visitors descend through a shaft some 208 metres underground by airconditioned minibus to enter vast trapezoid chambers entirely constructed from rock salt.
