We will meet you at the Semera Airport upon arrival and drive to Erta Ale, which means "Smoky Mountain" in the Afar language. Erta Ale is a shield volcano with a 30 km base and a 1 km square caldera at its summit, home to one of the world’s few permanent lava lakes. After a short break, we will begin the trek up Erta Ale.
