Desert Dreams from Tangier

Into the Sahara: A Fes Desert Journey

3 Days from Fes to Marrakech Day 1: From Fes - Midelt - Azrou - Ziz Valley - Merzouga: Today you travel with Merzouga Outdoor and we drive to Todra Gorges, passing through Ifrane to arrive at the cedar forests of Azrou where the wild monkeys are located. We will enjoy lunch in a small Berber village and we continue on to Midelt, taking in the scenery along the way. We then head towards Rich and Erfoud, feeling the beginnings of the Sahara Oasis of Tafilalet. Continuing onwards, we reach Merzouga, where we mount the camels for an overnight stay under the stars in traditional nomadic tents. Day 2: From Merzouga - Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades - Ouarzazate: After witnessing the dawn over the dunes, we dismount the camels and make our way back to Merzouga. After having breakfast and freshening up at the hotel, we begin our onward journey to Ouarzazate. Along the route, we stop off at various points including visits to local Berber villages, the dramatic landscape of the Todra Gorge, the beautiful Dades Gorge, Rose Valley, and Skoura town. Our arrival in Ouarzazate takes place during the late afternoon hours. Day 3: From Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Tizi -n- Tichka - Marrakech: This day sees us visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou; one of North Africa's finest examples of medieval architecture featuring stunning kasbah structures that have been beautifully preserved throughout time. Day 2: Zagora – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate – Tizi-N-Ticha - Marrakech Early rise today to watch the sun come up accompanied by traditional Moroccan tea & pastries after having breakfasted together mounted atop camels returning back down to zagora were we transfer onto our waiting Landrover vehicles continuing onwards across the dryscapes of Morocco arriving first in ouarzazate taking time out mid journey to stop briefly in agdz for some refreshments(Lunch not provided during these stops but there may be local options available if desired.) Returning southwards now retracing yesterday's steps until reaching marrakech late afternoon/evening.
