Stone town (Old Town), also known as Mji Mkongwe in Swahili, is the old part of Zanzibar City, the main and capital city of Zanzibar. It holds a vast history dating back to the original inhabitants of Zanzibar, followed by Persians, Portuguese, and later the Sultanate of Oman. The newer part of the city is called Ng'ambo, which means "the other side" in Swahili.
