Organic Wine Tasting of Rare Grape Varieties

La Méchinière · Blois

Our eight grape varieties, half of which are rare and some dating back to pre-phylloxera vines planted before 1890, make La Méchinière, a small family estate, a unique showcase in the Cher Valley. Our pruning is sustainable, our harvesting is done manually, and our vinification is natural. Growing from a healthy and respectful terroir, our organic wines come in four colours: white, amber, pink and red, bearing both AOC Touraine and Vins de France labels, expressing the true nature of each variety, free from artificial additives. On our ten hectare vineyard, we cultivate: - Orbois and Chenin grown side by side since pre phylloxera times, planted prior to 1890; - Sauvignon blanc and Fumé gris (rose sauvignon); - Gamay; - cabernet Franc; - Cot (malbec), including one row using traditional methods known as "provignage"; - And pineau d’Aunis, now very scarce in our region. To sample these wines is to discover authentic flavours reminiscent of ancient varietals found throughout the Cher Valley. Sit down, breathe them in, savour them slowly while immersing yourselves in the rich heritage behind every vintage through an engaging conversation with the vintner. Why not extend this experience with a leisurely walk alongside the unspoilt riverbanks? Duration tasting session: five wines – duration approximately one hour Purchase available onsite Language spoken: French, English, German Self contained cycles and motorhomes can be accommodated upon request (with water supply points, electric hook ups and toilet facilities). We will gladly work with larger parties or individual visitors outside normal opening hours to create bespoke experiences tailored specifically around your needs. Valérie et Louis Forgues

Discover Wines with Soul in Saint-Émilion

Chateau Clos Systey · Bordeaux

In the heart of Saint-Émilion, Clos Systey invites you to enjoy an intimate and mindful experience in a 2-hectare organic and biodynamic vineyard, where every gesture respects the life of the soil, the vines, and the surrounding ecosystem. The experience begins with a guided walk through the vineyard, where you will discover our vision: a form of viticulture close to nature, free from herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers. We will explain how we work the vineyard using biodynamic preparations and herbal infusions, and how the soil remains alive and balanced thanks to the gentle work of Unan, our horse, who replaces heavy machinery. Throughout the visit, we share our belief that everything is connected—the stars, the earth, the plants, and the people—and how this philosophy is expressed in wines full of energy, identity, and emotion. The experience continues in the cellar, where you will learn about our artisanal approach to winemaking: hand harvesting, minimal intervention, and a natural process in which modern techniques serve authenticity. Each step is designed to support the wine, not to impose a style upon it. The visit concludes with a guided tasting of our wines—true expressions of the Saint-Émilion terroir—where each bottle tells a story and conveys the passion of those who care for every vine, day after day. **What does the experience include?** * Guided visit of a 2-hectare organic and biodynamic vineyard * Explanation of biodynamic philosophy and animal-powered farming methods (using horses) * Tasting session featuring three different vintages of their signature red blend, accompanied by local cheeses and charcuterie * A deeper understanding of the connection between the land, the grapes, and the final product
