OL DONYO SABUK NATIONAL PARK Ol donyo Sabuk National Park is dominated by a small mountain known as KILI MAMBO GO, which is covered in montane forest. The Park is home to 45 species of birds, including the white-browed sparrow weaver, gray-headed sparrow weaver, and many others. Buffalos are the dominant animals in the ecosystem. Other wildlife includes bushbucks, leopards, olive baboons, aardvarks, and several other mammal and reptile species. However, Ol donyo Sabuk National Park may not be the ideal location for viewing these animals because of its mountainous terrain. That said, olive baboons and some monkey species venture outdoors where they accept handouts from tourists who visit them there. For those interested in birding, though, this area truly shines. Visitors often take pleasure in driving or hiking nine kilometers along the trail leading to the peak near the entrance gates. Hiking all the way to the top usually requires about four hours round trip; while somewhat strenuous, even relatively fit individuals should manage fine if they put forth slightly extra effort. MWEA NATIONAL RESERVE Located within Kenya, the Mwea National Reserve spans an expanse primarily composed of acacia woodland interspersed with Commiphora trees located directly beside Lake Kamburo (Kamburu) Dam—where rivers Tana and Thiba converge their waters. Wildlife found throughout the preserve ranges widely among various animal life such as elephant herds native to Africa, Lesser Kudus, large populations of Nile Crocodiles, Giraffe long necks stretching towards treetops, plains zebra groups led by Grants Zebras, buffaloes roaming freely across vast grasslands, elusive leopard cats stalking through dense underbrush, Common Duiker antelopes darting between bushes, Black-backed Jackal packs hunting together cooperatively, Bushbuck deer hiding amongst thickets, etcetera.

MOUNT LONGONOT Mount Longonot is a dormant stratovolcano located in Kenya's Great Rift Valley, 75 km northwest of Nairobi. Rising 2,776 meters above sea level, the mountain features a massive caldera and rugged crater rim, remnants of its last eruption in 1863. The 52 sq km park is a haven for adventure and nature enthusiasts. Hikers can ascend to the crater rim in about three hours, with the option to circumnavigate the 21 km trail. The park is home to buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, baboons, and various raptors, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and Lake Naivasha. LAKE NAIVASHA AND CRESCENT ISLAND Lake Naivasha is a large, shallow freshwater lake covering 139 km² at an elevation of 1,884 meters. Fed by the Gilgil and Malewa Rivers, it is known for its scenic beauty and rich birdlife. On the eastern side lies Crescent Island, a sanctuary situated on the rim of an extinct volcano. The island hosts over 1,600 head of game and 200 bird species. Visitors can stroll among herds of antelopes and giraffes, while nocturnal wildlife includes hippos, bush babies, genet cats, and bat-eared foxes. LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK Lake Nakuru is a Rift Valley lake situated at 1,754 meters, south of Nakuru town. The park, established in 1961, has expanded from the lake area to include surrounding savannahs. Roughly 10,000 years ago, this lake formed a single deep body of water with Naivasha and Elementaita.
